RASC-South Core

RASC-South Core

The RASC-South Research Operations Program supports access to shared research equipment and laboratory resources located on the Kottman Hall, Columbus campus. The program provides coordinated operational oversight to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant use of specialized instrumentation in support of CFAES research activities. Program oversight is provided by Wirat Pipatpongpinyo, PhD (pipatpongpinyo.1@osu.edu) within the Research and Analytical Service Cores (RASC), part of CFAES Research & Graduate Education (R&GE).

Current Services

At present, RASC-South core focuses on facilitating access to shared equipment and laboratory resources, including:

  • Use of specialized research instrumentation located at the Columbus campus
  • Coordination of equipment access and scheduling
  • Operational support for shared laboratory spaces
  • Compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and university policies

Local, day-to-day operational support is provided by on-site staff at RASC-South, Maria Bellizzi (bellizzi.1@osu.edu), who assists with equipment access coordination and routine facility needs.

As needed, RASC-South coordinates with RASC-affiliated staff to support users. This includes consultation support for microscopy and related imaging workflows provided by Dhanashree, PhD (dhanashree.1@osu.edu), who assists CFAES researchers requiring technical guidance.

These services are designed to support faculty, staff, and researchers from CFAES departments and collaborating units who require access to Columbus-based research infrastructure.

Program Scope

The RASC-South Research Operations Program provides centralized operational coordination for shared resources, helping ensure consistent practices related to access, safety, and responsible equipment use. As research needs evolve, the program is positioned to expand its support to additional operational, administrative, and collaborative functions aligned with college priorities.

Governance and Oversight

RASC-South operates as part of the Research and Analytical Service Cores (RASC), one of the CFAES research service programs under the Office of Research & Graduate Education (R&GE). The program works in alignment with college leadership, departmental partners, and university compliance offices to ensure appropriate oversight of shared research resources and reliable service delivery.

Looking Ahead

The RASC-South Research Operations Program is designed to grow alongside research demand. Future expansions may include additional shared services, infrastructure coordination, and cross-campus initiatives to further support collaborative and interdisciplinary research activities.
